3 Information about the function

The 2nd Level Assurance is a vital function of GNOC in GSDC India.

2nd LA contributes to the successful Managed Services Delivery by

executing Managed Services & Customer Support activities.

4 Hiring Manager

Operations Manager- 2nd LA

5 Education

Degree in Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering or equivalent

6 Experience

Minimum 8 years of relevant experience of which at least 4 year must
have been spent working on Ericsson & Supported Vendor’s
Transmission Equipments mainly on Optical products.

8 Technical Competence

General

  • Telecommunications knowledge e.g. telephony radio/switching
principles, traffic concepts, telecommunication network topology and
signaling.

  • Good knowledge on the digital cross-connects principles, data
communication and transmission and transport Network Topology &
Concepts.

  • Good understanding of relevant recommendations/guidelines of ITU.
  • Should Identify and solve complicated problems that require careful
analysis by adapting existing procedures, techniques and methods in the
area of BSS Network O&M/Support.

  • Should have working knowledge of support processes.
Specific

  • Good knowledge & skills on Operation and maintenance /
Integration / support of Microwave / Optical Network Elements and
EMS/NMS.

  • Working experience on minimum one of the following product portfolio.
 Ericsson TXN Products MLTN/MLHC/MLE/AXX/DXX

 Service On Microwave/Service On Optical/Service On Manager

 Ericsson Marconi SDH Mux (OMS) family

 Huawei/Tejas optical TXN products

 Alcatel optical TXN or DWDM products

 Nortel/ECI/Fibcom/Tellabs optical TXN products

 NSN/Harris TXN products

9 Responsibilities

The primary purpose is to be able to provide/lead technical support for
operations and system fault restoration. Fault remedy requiring on site
presence is dispatched to the field operation organization.

  • Leading a team of motivated engineers/problem management for transmission domain.
  • 2nd Level service problem restoration of Txn network faults;
prioritize faults and meet WLAs/SLAs, Handling Trouble Tickets &
CSRs.

  • 2nd Level resource configurations & changes into Txn network within the scope of work, Handling CRs.
  • To Handle Emergency situations in Txn Network.
  • To keep the SDH/PDH NEs Hardware and Software Configurations Updated.
  • To perform Acceptance Testing of the new Network Element in Txn network.
  • To be able to efficiently use tools like Alex and Primus.
  • To participate in internal technical discussions in view to improve
overall network performance and make recommendations wherever possible.

  • To contribute in the creation and improvements to procedures and routines within the department / group.
  • To ensure correct working methodology.
  • Adherence to customer agreed KPIs.
  • Perform under time constrain depending upon the business requirements.
  • Finding root cause analysis of potential and traffic outage related problems.
  • Rerouting the traffic during outage time (Traffic transmission).
  • Managing to keep low MTTR & preparing the report for analysis with help of OSS.
  • Managing to keep track of hardware’s & software’s related changes in the network.
