This company is one that values their bottom dollar! not the employee!!
technician (Former Employee), east coast –
Pros: benefits and industry
Cons: wages, setup for success
This company is one that values their bottom dollar! Not the employee!! This company has had a rash of incompetent managers. They have had several law suits against them. They really do not look out for those who work the hardest, their employees!!!

Stryker is a great place to work at. The people are fun to be around and your always staying busy. You can move up in the company if you buckle down and show them you mean business.

Engineer (Former Employee), Mahwah, NJ –
People were nice, place was always stressed out. Management left something to be desired. At the time they wanted all type A personalities. Who knows at this point. It's been a while.

Lakeland, FL
Not there anymore (Former Employee), Lakeland, FL –
Pros: free lunches, birthday cakes, but have to work late to complete your days work.
Cons: not professional, no recognition.
Costs a healthy family $600 a month in insurance minimum.
If you aren't part of the clique, you are nobody, unintelligence rules if you are at the top of the food chain, if you are at the bottom and have outstanding ideas it doesn't matter, (your boss takes credit anyway).
You have absolutely no job security, worry night and day about if they will cut – more...  your job, they think this will advance your job performance even if you are giving 10,000%.
Management is ran by scare tactics and has absolutely no interest in upholding their star employees. I saved the company $256k in one year and never heard a word about it, not even in my reviews, because my boss was taking all the credit for all my work. Management allows bullying in the workforce, sees it first hand and does nothing to reprimand any employees who lie, backstab, stir the pot, engage in angry behaviors and hostility against other employees, it seems to be the way there.
There is no work life balance. It is work 50-80 hour weeks and next week they will ask you why you didn't get 1 thing done. Not compliment you on the hard work and dedication you gave and was away from your family for many years on end, but to chastise you like a child and get on to you for things left undone when they give you all their work and your work and everyone else's.
HR was a joke. They would look at you, listen, be apathetic, agree with you on how bad everything was, tell your their personal stories of how bad things are then pat you on your back out the door and never do anything about it. They seem to engage in the bullying behavior as well. Strange, because when I was hired they said they needed more smiling faces like mine, now I understand why. Everyone there is so angry, ugly, mean, manipulative, backstabbing, game playing, horrible, nasty, wretched people, submitting their yuck on everyone around them. It was the most horrible environment I ever been in, in my life.
They will give you awards when you start failing. It is the most non-sensical thing I ever seen in my life. When you are saving money, doing good, doing exactly what they ask, then they just make things harder as if they want to see how far they can push you before you fail. Then they give you an award to hang on your desk, but they will never speak of it in your yearly review.
I suggest they look into the Anti-Bullying laws that have been passed in 11 states to date. It would be a tremendous turn-around for their environment.
Seems like you can buy fortune 500 "Best Place to Work", because everyone I know there hates it and was trapped by bad economical times. People have bailed out since the economy is turning around like rats off a ship. – less

Customer Service/Administrative Assistant (Former Employee), Franklin, TN –
Pros: excellent
Cons: moved to texas so had to leave
I also enjoyed this job. Daily routine was not set at this job. Help whereever was needed. In the afternoon was the normal of entering orders for that day.

Great Place to Work, but one is not given the proper training
Temporary Employee (Former Employee), New Orleans, LA –
Pros: birthday lunch, great people, meaningful work
Cons: no training, have to learn everything yourself, prone to mistakes, long hours, terrible operations manager, unjustifiable pay, use your personal vehicle for deliveries
I really enjoyed working for the operations team at Stryker. However, there is no job security being a temporary employee and I remained one for 9 months. I was very dedicated, honest, and hard-working employee with a strong drive to succeed.

A great place to work. They are innovative in the medical field.
Team Leader-Dispatch / Warehouse (Former Employee), Needham, MA –
Pros: very competitive earnings. a dedicated workforce.
Stryker Orthopedics gave me a great opportunity to learn about Orthopedics. I spent seven years as a Stryker employee. During that time they were very helpful in teaching me all aspects of Orthopedic medical equipment distribution. During my time at Stryker I was able to grow as an employee and was awarded two promotions. I would highly recommend Stryker – more...  as a place to work! – less

Strategic Marketing Intern for Stryker CMF (Former Employee), Kalamazoo, MI –
I was very fortunate to have the opportunity to intern at a company like Stryker. I was unsure of what to expect going into my first day but was overwhelmed with the support and generosity from everyone within the company. I learned a great deal from one summer experience and Stryker motivated me to achieve more in life.

Excellent for young professionals willing to work hard
General Manager (Former Employee), Arroyo,Puerto Rico –
Pros: excellent learning place
Cons: pay should be better
Excellent company with oppurtunities for those who are willing to work hard. Young management at plant level who don't have the necessary experience to perform well when faced with complex problems at technical, human resources and, regulatory levels. Lots of personnel turnover.

You have to be one of THEM
Contract Technical Writer (Former Employee), Kalamazoo, MI –
Pros: opportunities for advancement
Cons: they value sameness and compliance above inovation
I was a successful contractor, highly valued by my supervisor at Stryker. I regularly got rave reviews from my clients, and not one hint ever about any problem with my work.

They wanted to hire me, but I didn't pass the Gallup personality profile phone interview. Then when my six month contract was up they decided not to renew. I remember the day prior – more...  getting new assignments, setting up meetings with clients and starting documents routing. The next day after I got home I was informed not to return.

If you are an employee, you're in, but if you're a contractor think twice before agreeing to go through the hiring process. – less

You're much better off not being a full time Stryker person. While there are careers to be had there, the overall culture is very poor. A perfect example of why we should all question articles that tout "best of" anything. Very few Stryker employees I have spoken to recommend it as a place to work. Even more shocking is that they would use a competitors implant on themselves as opposed to a Stryker implant!

you, you are treated like an outsider. I have been to HR several times. They don't care. I am ignored and treated like a total intruder. The main idea is that if they ignore me long enough I'll go away. Most do. That is why there is such a huge turn over. For personal/medical reasons I can't just change jobs, so I'm stuck being abused. It amazes me that people who work in a medical company have no compassion or empathy for somene with medical problems. To them, if you aren't part of the cool clique you obviously cannot perform.
