Great place for ambition
Program Manager (Former Employee), Phoenix –
Pros: development opportunities
Cons: high pressure, sub market pay
I survived Intel for 7 years. It was an amazing place full of development opportunities, very open and democratic culture. If you are highly motivated, can argue, stand up for yourself, write well you will do well. Negatives are that the pressure can be artificially high and fear and paranoia abound.

An interesting place looked to be second home for the size and nearest to home
Assembler I (Former Employee), PR –
it was a very nice place to work, I felt days went fast, but I remember it was a challenge every day for the first months because I needed to get up early, but it was worth it. How easy it was having this job close to home, I felt like I always I was at home, nice supervisors, very patience people.

Process Integration Staff Engineer (Former Employee), Portland, OR, USA –
My biggest learning out of this company was I acquired and discovered my strengths: I'm very data driven, disciplined and results oriented. Two of these are Intel Values. Management is mostly technical and reviews are performance based.

Rio Rancho factory made 1/2 of intel profits so it was a high pressure work place.

Frequent calls at night because too few engineers on night shift.

Great company until cost cutting became priority
Manufacturing Technician (Former Employee), Colorado Springs, CO –
Pros: well paid, very safe culture, local upper mgmt listened to the worker bees.
Cons: the "c" level did not like the location, close 'em at all costs
Intel was a great company to work for up until 2003 to 2008. Cost cutting suddenly became more important, and many good people were released. The few that were allowed to stay, had to make sure they were in the correct locations. Advancement for Intel was one of the more challenging aspects of the job. Expectations varied widely, and were not clearly – more...  defined. Different locations for the company had widely differing metrics. – less

Great for Single people or people that are ok working all the time
Project manager (Former Employee), Chandler, AZ –
Pros: pay, benefits, on-site wellness programs, world class fitness center
Cons: long hours, little to none work-life balance
I loved the challenge, opportunities, global co-workers. There was a lot of variety to my multiple jobs. Before kids, I loved working at Intel and enjoyed coming to work (and the fact that it often followed me home). After kids, the total lack of work-life balance got to be overwhelming. A big part of me leaving is the fact that I had a manager that – more...  didn't understand my issue with working night/weekends all the time. – less

Great place to work
Sr. Administrative Assistant (Former Employee), Folsom, CA –
Pros: great employee recognition
Cons: can be stressful at times, when deadlines need to be met
I truly enjoyed my time at Intel, but took advantage of lay-off to have some time w/my daughter. Typical day included scheduling mtgs, 1/1's attending admin mtgs, setting up interviews, coording monthly dept mtgs, or fun things to do w/departmt ,ie: monthly gatherings in the cooridor, picinics in the park, to boost up moral. My co-workers there were – more...  A #1. Management was stellar some could be hardcore, your constantly on your toes to learn new technology, the enjoyable part for me was coordinating events for the group, challenged by scheduling difficult mtgs w/upper management – less

Intel is a great place to work and grow.
Technician for Fab 20 Oregon (Former Employee), Hillsboro, Oregon –
Pros: self led teams, incredibly safe, team orientated, good benefits, intels commitment to work / life ideals
Cons: managers swapped along to quickly
Start with passdown with entire crew with engineers and managers. Rec'd prioties for the day.
I learned the value of team work. Safety as a value, The power of a group of dedicated people to solve problems and streamline production. I worked with many managers there. Learned from the new hires and the old hands. Each one had different styles so I had – more...  to be able to change the way we do things or be miserable all the time. I worked with some of the best people in the world there. This gave me insight to different cultures and ways of looking at things. The hardest part of the job was to find and accept the root cause of a problem. This could be very surprizing. The most enjoyable was brain storming a solution with a good team of people from different departments and driving it till we got the results we were looking for or better. I also injoyed instructing classes for Intel U very much. – less

Would love to go back
Analyst (Former Employee), Folsom, CA –
Pros: pay, benefits, work/life balance
Cons: not so good managers, night time meetings, politics
I would love to go back to the company, though I did find them less than sympathetic when it came time to layoffs. They didn't take into consideration your time in the job, your past performance appraisals, they just cut. I loved my co-workers, they were fun, inspiring and challenged me to be a better person and employee.
